Hello people! I am back!!! So how are you all doing? Happy?? Sad?? I am doing fairly well this month. I was quite busy studying for my exams in March and reading my TBR books. I am proud to announce that only 3 more books are remaining to finish up. I will be posting a lot of reviews and wrapping up blogs ahead. But for now, let’s start with the first book that I read this year and that was Pumpkinheads, let’s get going into the review, shall we???

NOTE: So this year, I am changing the review format, instead of the Amazon or goodreads summary, I will be giving you a summary by myself to make you know what I feel about this book and how I related to it. So this will make the review a bit personal and not look like a professional blog because, at the end of the day, IT IS MY BLOG!

This book was a nice one to start my year with. I liked the plot and the characters.
This book follows Deja and Josiah two seasonal best friends who always meet each other at the Pumpkin Patch in Nebraska where they work as part-timers. It’s their last season there and after that, they will be heading to their respective colleges and won’t be able to work or even come to the pumpkin patch again.
Josiah has had a crush on a girl since he started working in the pumpkin patch but has never been able to tell her due to his shyness. So Deja comes up with a plan to help him confess and also fulfill her desire of enjoying the different stalls and fun stuff at the pumpkin patch which she couldn’t do because she was an employee and was always busy working. This plan kickstarts their adventure leading to a hilarious cute and heartwarming story.
This book was very nice and heartwarming for me as I said in the summary but…(and here comes the but!!) it had something missing. The entire adventure of Deja and Josiah was very funny and thrilling but it didn’t have that spark that I wanted. I was hoping for a bit more than what I got. When I entered this book I was hoping it to be a page-turner but it wasn’t that.
The story in some places felt repetitive and also confusing. The cute and colored illustrations did make up for it though but I still didn’t feel like it was apt. After I completed the book, I was not like “Aw, what a cute and nice book!” I was like, “hmmm nice read and it’s done.” I didn’t swoon over the book it didn’t make me feel what it made a lot of people feel.
This book received 4.5 stars because it was the first read of this year and also because I am now using the CAWPILE edition of Book Roast (a book tuber). This helps me in rating my books nicely and accurately and not based on my feelings. Below I will be giving you the full form of CAWPILE with the ranking I gave each of the letters.
Character: 9 stars.
Atmosphere: 8.5 stars.
Writing: 9.6 stars.
Plot: 8 stars.
Intrigue: 9.2 stars.
Logic: 9.3 stars.
Enjoyment: 9 stars.
The average of all this is 8.94 which in the 5-star rating scale is 4.5 stars.
So this is it. I hope you liked my review. Do try this book out if you are in the mood for some fun and small graphic novel. I have 2 reviews of big series coming up soon. So wait for it!!!
