Hello, every humanoid on earth. I am back with a lot of happiness and a lot of cuteness. Yesterday was a great day and I had so much fun, I couldn’t meet my brother due to Covid-19 but we talked to each other on the phone for almost 2 hours and it was so cool. I feel so happy to have a great family and amazing friends. I know this is crazy, one moment I was down and now I am happy but it’s just that life is weird right now. Anywho I decided to do a book review that I haven’t done in a LONG TIME. You all know that I have been reading like a kookoo and there are just so many books to review so allow me not bore you and start the review. Let’s go, shall we??

Oh… This book is a really hard one to review. I just love that that I am back reviewing, it’s such a great thing. I have been suffering from terrible allergic strokes and I am having one now too but it’s getting a little better, I have to take a full body checkup and I think this will go big. I hope I get better soon because I am kinda weak and tired but who cares. Let’s go ahead and explore this book, shall we???

•My Summary:

This book is basically about the call centres in India that appoint millions of youth and give them job security. One night when our 5 characters namely Shyam, Priyanka, Vroom, Esha, Radhika and Military Uncle are in the call centre, they go through some big changes and revelations in their lives where they find out about an unfaithful husband cheating on his wife, a forced engagement that exposes many lies. To take a break from their weird and terrible night they go out for some fresh air and get involved in an accident where they get a call. A call that will change their lives forever.

This book was exciting. I really liked it. I finished reading it in just 2 sits and it had me hooked for sure. The story was extremely unique and had a different writing style than the usual books. The author used one of the characters inside the story to narrate the incident. According to the author, this incident is based on real-life and if it is so, I must say that the author did a great job portraying the character of Shyam. I loved how he would go to flashbacks in the middle of the story. It was so smooth and elegant. The complications/problems in the life of the characters were normal and the same that a human has. The story was so nice and the concept was really unique.

But:

I felt like this novel was too concerned about the characters’ problems and not the call they got from God and they believed in the call too soon. I mean you are in the middle of an accident and you get a call if you pick it up and the person on the phone says he is God then doesn’t it feel like they should have tested the guy?? You know, asked him a question or something?? Even if you are about to die, don’t you think you should keep your dark secrets to yourself and not tell the world about it. I was also annoyed that the phone call came after 210 pages of the characters’ problems. I mean I really liked how the author solved each and every problem and took us back to the memory lane of Shyam and his breakup but I felt like the call was not given much importance and these things made me take 1.0 Stars from my ratings. Look, I loved the story but I wish God could have intervened earlier and the story wouldn’t have fast-paced after the call.

Overall if I am to say something about this book, I will just say that now I know the reason why all Chetan Bhagat books turn into movies in India. It’s like he writes a script instead of a novel and trust me, he does it very elegantly. I would recommend this novel to every reader who likes reading about people’s problems and likes a different story.
