RAKSHA BANDHAN || INDIAN CULTURE & LITERARY MONDAY.

GOOD MORNING EVERYBODY!!!! oh I am in my best mood today and trust me nobody can change it. Today is Raksha Bandhan, the best festival in India. It’s a festival of love, respect and getting free gifts from brothers. This is the best day of my life. I am the sister to 2 younger cousin brothers and they are soo cute. I am so glad that this day has come to cheer me up. I can’t wait to celebrate Rakhi (short form of Raksha Bandhan). So come along and find out what a special day it is in the lives of an Indian brother and sister. Let’s roll, people.

Raksha Bandhan is the most important moment in every girl’s life in India. This is the moment where a girl like me ties a rakhi (a decorated bracelet type band) in her brother’s hand and that brother swears to God that he will always protect her and care for her. He will always stand by her side, in good or bad he will constantly fight for her. This is the moment where a sister realises that no matter how much they fight, shout, abuse and scold each other, they will always be together. This is a moment where a brother knows that he will become a shield to save his sister and a sword to cut those people who try to hurt her.

See, I have no brother and/or sister. I am the only child of my parents but to defend me and protect me, I have 2 tiny brothers😝. It’s so magical to have cousin brothers looking out for you. I have 2 dumdums but I am only close to one brother and that is Sahil Lakhani, my cute little brother. I haven’t been in India for long but since I came back, Sahil has been there for me.

We have sweet memories of my childhood and so many beautiful moments. We know each other’s secrets and share everything we each other. We aren’t just brother and sister we are best friends who disturb each other, protect each other, love each other and care for each other. I remember when he used to walk beside me and my sister acting like a tiny bodyguard. He would stay with us and fight with us.

Although he doesn’t call me these days because of STUPID PUBG, I know that he is there for me always. Although he ignores my texts and doesn’t have time for me, I know he respects me and cares about me a lot. I didn’t know what to write today. I didn’t feel like completing my other posts. It’s rakhi people and this Raksha Bandhan post is totally dedicated to my Chiku (Sahil’s pet name that only I use to call him). No matter how far we are, I will always love that idiot. He is my smaller brother but sometimes he acts like he is older than me and I don’t know why I love it.

A note for Sahil.

This festival celebrates the pure bond between a brother and sister and when I think of Rakhi, I only remember the good moments that we had. There are tons of them but in each and every one of them, you are always with me. You may be imperfect but you are always the perfect brother I wanted. I know I wasn’t close to you Sahil but this time, I really feel like nobody can take your place in my heart. You have a special corner in my heart that not even Sohail (my other younger brother) can take. So please call me once in a while and even if you don’t, remember one thing for sure: I am always there for you and the love and respect I have for you will never get over no matter how bad you get.
