BOOK HAUL || BOOK FAIR SHOPPING (2).

Hola amiga, how is quarantine going??? How is life, people?? Well, here I am back again with a BOOK HAUL!!! Shopping is fun but only if it is book shopping, isn’t it? I mean for a reader shoe shopping can be extremely boring and if they are in a mall they will wander to the books section eventually. I did the same. Ladies and Gentlemen, you are looking at an idiot who wears torn clothes happily but doesn’t spend a penny on buying new ones instead she buys new books. I am a book freak and I couldn’t be more proud to say that. My mom fights with me to buy clothes and accessories because I don’t want them. So allow me to introduce you to the new books I bought just before Covid-19 Pandemic started. Let’s go, shall we??

So here it is. The post at last. It took me 3 hours daily to put 2 parts of this post together. I have been working on this post for 4 days. I actually did that because I didn’t want to just add the books only. I wanted to add the summary and a small note where I talk about this book. So here is the post AT LAST!!! Let’s start, people.

Let me inform you that I haven’t touched any of these lovely books yet but will be reading them very soon. So let me introduce you to the best gift I have ever got.

1. The Experiment.

The Experiment by John Darnton.

In an isolated laboratory, a test subject discovers a human corpse with its heart removed…In New York City, a journalist investigates a homicide victim with its face and fingerprints removed… Drawn together by medicine and murder, these two men are about to make a discovery that will change everything they think about science, nature, and themselves…

They share the same face.

I won’t say I have heard about John Darnton because I haven’t. There are too many authors to talk about and this one is I don’t know who. Although I did a search about him on Google and I was quite impressed. I am really excited to read this book.

2. Critical Space.

Critical Space by Greg Rucka.

The acclaimed author of Shooting at Midnight has penned a thriller like no other … the no-holds-barred story of a bodyguard with the ultimate assignment: protecting a woman who also happens to be the most hunted killer in the world… Code-named Drama, she is a lightning-fast death machine — a hitwoman sought by intelligence agencies around the world. Drama kills as easily as she breathes … and the last time she and Atticus Kodiak met, they barely escaped each other alive. Atticus Kodiak has a reputation as one of the toughest bodyguards in the business. He’s used to picking his assignments and calling the shots. But all that changes when he is forced to take on Drama as a client — the last person he ever imagined would need his protection.

This time, Drama is the one who is running from a killer. She needs Atticus’s help, and she won’t take no for an answer. To prove it, she abducts a high-profile member of the royal family whom Atticus has sworn to protect. He will do almost anything to get the woman back. But what Drama needs from him will destroy his reputation — and siding with her means he can never turn back. From New York’s Russian enclaves to the Swiss Alps and the Caribbean, Atticus becomes Drama’s protector, and her only hope for survival as she tries to outlive and outrun her bloody past. But once immersed in Drama’s high-stakes, covert world, Atticus breaks a cardinal rule: He gets to know Drama as a woman rather than just a client — and it’s a bond that could cost them both their lives.

This lady feels more like action than the thriller but I am okay with it as long as it’s fun and intriguing but I am not very excited about this book because it’s kind of out of my genre book. I don’t indulge in action genre much. I do sometimes but that’s a very rare occasion and a lot of pleading by my book club friends. So let’s see if I take this book in my hand soon.

3. B Is For Burglar.

B Is For Burglar (A Kinsey Millhone Mystery) by Sue Grafton.

Although the business has been slow lately for P.I. Kinsey Millhone, she’s reluctant to take on the case of locating Beverly Danziger’s sister Elaine Boldt. It’s a small matter that Beverly should be able to handle herself. So why is she enlisting Kinsey’s services? Beverly claims she needs Elaine’s signature on some documents so that she can collect a small inheritance. But the whole affair doesn’t sit well with Kinsey. And if there’s something she’s learned in her line of work, it’s to always follow your instincts… Kinsey’s hunch proves true when she begins her inquiries into Elaine’s whereabouts and discovers that the attractive widow was last seen in a flashy lynx coat boarding a plane for Boca Raton. But the more Kinsey searches for Elaine the more questions she encounters. Is Elaine’s disappearance tied into the brutal murder several months ago of one of her bridge partners? And what happened to Elaine’s Persian cat who seems to have also vanished? Things take a turn for the worse when a stranger vandalizes the home of one of Elaine’s neighbours and another neighbour turns up murdered. With her reputation and career on the line, Kinsey risks all to find a missing woman and a killer who’s waiting in the shadows to strike again…

Now, this is my kind of story. I am a great fan of thriller and suspense especially when it concerns detectives and courtroom mysteries that’s like a treat for me. This series is a very big one and I can’t imagine how to take this in the hand without facing the consequences of not reading other books. This book has a story on each alphabet until Y. The author passed away before making it to Z and I must say I am really interested in reading and collecting all the books. So I might take this in my hand very soon.

4. Private Berlin.

Private Berlin by James Patterson & Mark Sullivan.

Private Berlin has the extraordinary pace and international sophistication that has powered The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo and Patterson’s #1 bestseller The Postcard Killers. IN EUROPE’S MOST DANGEROUS CITY

Chris Schneider is a superstar agent at Private Berlin, Germany headquarters for the world’s most powerful investigation firm. He keeps his methods secret as he tackles Private’s most high-profile cases-and when Chris suddenly disappears, he becomes Private Berlin’s most dangerous investigation yet. AN INVESTIGATOR IS SEARCHING Mattie Engel is another top agent at Private Berlin, gorgeous and ruthlessly determined and she’s also Chris’s ex. Mattie throws herself headfirst into finding Chris, following leads to the three people Chris was investigating when he vanished: a billionaire suspected of cheating on his wife, a soccer star accused of throwing games and a nightclub owner with ties to the Russian mob. AND SHE’S AFTER MORE THAN THE TRUTH

Mattie’s chase takes her into Berlin’s most guarded, hidden, and treacherous places, revealing secrets from Chris’s past that she’d never dreamed of in the time they were lovers. On the brink of a terrifying discovery, Mattie holds on to her belief in Chris-in the face of a horror that could force all of Europe to the edge of destruction and chaos. James Patterson has taken the European thriller to a masterful new level with Private Berlin, an adrenaline-charged, spectacularly violent and sexy novel with unforgettable characters of dark and complex depths. Private Berlin proves why Patterson is truly the world’s #1 bestselling author.

Hmm…sounds interesting and it gives good vibes. I feel like this book could be the one dangerous book I have always wanted to read. I am a huge fan of James Patterson. I had so many of his books back in Africa that I could eventually do a long bookshelf tour with his books. I am glad I found this book, it’s so interesting yet creepy just like my type. Picking it up very soon.

5. Lexicon.

Lexicon by Max Barry.

At an exclusive school somewhere outside of Arlington, Virginia, students aren’t taught history, geography, or mathematics–at least not in the usual ways. Instead, they are taught to persuade. Here the art of coercion has been raised to a science. Students harness the hidden power of language to manipulate the mind and learn to break down individuals by psychographic markers in order to take control of their thoughts. The very best will graduate as “poets”, adept wielders of language who belong to a nameless organization that is as influential as it is secretive. Whip-smart orphan Emily Ruff is making a living running a three-card Monte game on the streets of San Francisco when she attracts the attention of the organization’s recruiters. She is flown across the country for the school’s strange and rigorous entrance exams, where, once admitted, she will be taught the fundamentals of persuasion by Bronte, Eliot, and Lowell–who have adopted the names of famous poets to conceal their true identities. For in the organization, nothing is more dangerous than revealing who you are: Poets must never expose their feelings lest they be manipulated. Emily becomes the school’s most talented prodigy until she makes a catastrophic mistake: She falls in love.

Meanwhile, a seemingly innocent man named Wil Jamieson is brutally ambushed by two strange men in an airport bathroom. Although he has no recollection of anything they claim he’s done, it turns out Wil is the key to a secret war between rival factions of poets and is quickly caught in their increasingly deadly crossfire. Pursued relentlessly by people with powers he can barely comprehend and protected by the very man who first attacked him, Wil discovers that everything he thought he knew about his past was fiction. In order to survive, must journey to the toxically decimated town of Broken Hill, Australia, to discover who he is and why an entire town was blown off the map. As the two narratives converge, the shocking work of the poets is fully revealed, the body count rises, and the world crashes toward a Tower of Babel event which would leave all language meaningless. A brilliant thriller that connects very modern questions of privacy, identity, and the rising obsession of data collection to centuries-old ideas about the power of language and coercion, Lexicon is Max Barry’s most ambitious and spellbinding novel yet.

Wow!! I have no idea if I will pick this up any soon. It’s a little weird and doesn’t add up to my brain. I might pick this up last to prevent my brain from blasting and it is a weird book with mixed reviews so…😁😁😁 THIS BOOK WILL BE THE LAST ON MY TBR.

6. The Attorney.

The Attorney by Steve Martini.

Now Martini delivers Paul Madriani’s most challenging case yet: one pitting a drug-addicted mother against her daughter’s newly rich grandfather in a contentious custody case that leads to criminal accusations and ultimately murder.Having moved to San Diego to be closer to the woman in his life, Madriani takes on the case of Jonah Hale, an elderly man in terrible straits. As a result of their only child Jessica’s longtime drug addiction, Jonah and his wife have been raising their eight-year-old granddaughter, Amanda. On the heels of Jonah’s multimillion-dollar state lottery win, Jessica revives her interest in mothering. When Jonah won’t deal–maternal rights for a mega-bucks payoff–Jessica plays dirty: she accuses the old man of having sexually abused her as a child and similarly abusing Amanda now. Enter Zo Suade–a flamboyant, feminist activist with a penchant for making the objects of custody battles and their mother/plaintiffs “disappear.” True to form, a week after Zo takes on Jessica’s case, mother and daughter vanish. When Zo’s body turns up, Jonah becomes the prime suspect. And Madriani is the man who can prove his innocence.

Filled with action in and out of court, rich in characters with motives obvious and subtle, The Attorney marks the much-anticipated return of Paul Madriani.

First, you haven’t heard of him?? Go kill yourself. Use anything to die but do it. I know I am being a ruthless idiot but I am serious. I am head over heels for this guy. I could marry Steve Martini. I love him that much. If you don’t know about me let me tell you that you are looking at a courtroom drama expert. I used to work in my high school’s courtroom as a lawyer and aspired to be one. I solved cases like no other lawyer there and when it comes to courtroom drama books, there isn’t any I haven’t read especially if they are written by my favourite authors and Steve Martini is the best author in the world for me. I am picking this book first thing after I finish with my O.W.L.S readathon books. Trust me on this, you won’t find a book that you can compare with his work. Even Agatha Christie is nothing in front of him for me.

7. The Lost World.

Jurassic Park; The Lost World by Michael Crichton.

It is now six years since the secret disaster at Jurassic Park, six years since the extraordinary dream of science and imagination came to a crashing end – the dinosaurs destroyed, the park dismantled, the island indefinitely closed to the public.

There are rumours that something has survived...

The summary is short but who needs a summary for the biggest franchise of Hollywood. Jurrasic World and Jurassic Park are the movies that even a baby has seen. This novel created havoc in the world of books. The movies of this Series are still made and are a hit. Having even the second part of the series makes me so happy. I, being a huge fan of the Jurassic Park movies feel so pleased to have this book and am dying to read them. Picking up soon.

8. Night Watch.

Night Watch by Terry Pratchett (A Discworld Novel).

‘Don’t put your trust in revolutions. They always come round again. That’s why they’re called revolutions. People die, and nothing changes.’

For a policeman, there can be few things worse than a serial killer at loose in your city. Except, perhaps, a serial killer who targets coppers, and a city on the brink of bloody revolution. The people have found their voice at last, the flags and barricades are rising…And the question for a policeman, an officer of the law, a defender of the peace, is: Are you with them, or are you against them?

This is the biggest series I have ever seen with 41 novels and 32 years of writing by Terry Pratchett. If you guys haven’t seen my bookshelf tour of a long time back I will add the link and you can see that I have been trying to read Terry Pratchett. I met a boy during the book fair who saw me making faces at Terry Pratchett’s book and asked me about it and I told him my problem. He explained everything to me and told me to do the 41 books of Terry Pratchett challenge and well I decided to do it soon. I will be reading this book as a challenge as soon as I finish my Romantic Classics Challenge, till then this book is on pause.

9. Salem’s Lot.

Salem’s Lot by Stephen King.

Thousands of miles away from the small township of ‘Salem’s Lot, two terrified people, a man and a boy, still share the secrets of those clapboard houses and tree-lined streets. They must return to ‘Salem’s Lot for a final confrontation with the unspeakable evil that lives on in the town.

Vampires are not my favourite kind of creatures especially after seeing twilight. I am happy with this book though and that’s because I have heard a lot about it. Stephen King is called the King of Horror and I kind of like him although I don’t like reading a book written by him because people think that I read only famous authors and that’s stupid but now that I have this book so I will be picking it up soon.

10. Nancy Drew & The Clue On The Silver Screen.

Nancy Drew & The Clue On The Silver Screen by Carolyn Keene.

Nancy attends the Martha’s Vineyard Film Festival, honouring the late, great film director Joseph Block. Even Velma Ford, queen of the silent screen, comes out of hiding to take part. But in a scene worthy of one of her movies, Velma’s appearance is marked by a sinister twist to the plot.

Nancy Drew stands above all for me. I love Nancy Drew and her Mysteries, be it any but her books are my saviour and my ultimate boredom survivor. I have a dream of collecting all the books in this series. It has 174 original books and 124 other works. When I collect all of them, I will think of myself as a true bookworm.

11. Nancy Drew & The Secret Of The Forgotten Cave.

Nancy Drew & The Secret Of The Forgotten Cave by Carolyn Keene.

Nancy has come to Connecticut to visit George’s aunt Elizabeth, and lands right in the middle of a controversy. George’s aunt, among others, proposes a bicycle path instead of widening a dangerously winding country road, in order to save a rare species of the bat. But a threatening phone call, a sinister warning hanging in the doorway, and a sabotaged car convince Nancy that much more than the bats are at stake.

This is actually the first book I have read from all the books I bought. I read it for my O.W.L.S readathon and it turned out to be great. I loved it. I will be posting the review of this book next month and I am hoping that you all will like the book too.

12. Nancy Drew & The Phantom Of Venice.

Nancy Drew & The Phantom Of Venice by Carolyn Keene.

Nancy travels to Venice to investigate the kidnapping of a famous glassblower and the disappearance of an artist.

Yet another Nancy Drew Mystery. That’s what you think, right?? But let me tell you this that even these books are very few for me. I want more of Nancy Drew. I always love all her books and I don’t even need to check the summary of any of her books. I will be picking this one up very soon.

13. Full House; Truth Or Dare (Club Stephanie).

Full House; Truth Or Dare (Club Stephanie) by Kathy Clark.

The Perfect Summer? Stephanie and her friends are ready for fun in the sun. Camp Sail-Away has everything they need — swimming, sailing, hiking — and boys! When Stephanie meets Luke, the boy of her dreams, she knows she’s going to have the perfect summer! There’s just one problem — the five Flamingo girls are at Camp Sail-Away, too. And Rene, their obnoxious leader, will do anything to keep Stephanie and Luke apart. She tells Stephanie that Luke has a dark secret in his past. At first, Stephanie doesn’t want to listen — until she finds out that Rene might be right!

If you all know me well. You will also know how big a fan I am of Full House and everything related to it. I love Full House and having a book on it is like a treat for me. I am not going to read it very soon though and that’s because the dessert is always kept for the last to eat. I will read it later when I have lots of free time. So I will be waiting for a good moment to start it.

14. Full House; Getting Even With The Flamingoes (Club Flamingoes).

Full House; Getting Even With The Flamingoes (Club Stephanie) by Diane Umansky.

There’s a new girl in Stephanie’s class. Wendy’s really nice, but she’s well…a little geeky. Stephanie does her best to help Wendy fit in. She even takes her to the mall and helps her buy cool clothes and the right CDs.

Another full house book. I will really wait to read this one too because it’s very cool. The review on Goodreads is not only positive but also exciting. I am dying to read it too.
