Mystery, thrillers and horrors are my main genres. It’s exciting to read a certain book and review it but it gets more exciting if the book is an ebook. I am not much fond of ebooks but I am getting the hang of it. This is my first NetGalley book review so allow me to review this novel.

Phantom Echoes, A Ghostlines Series by BD Wilson.

So let’s start with the review, shall we?

NetGalley Book Summary:

Being a psychic doesn’t mean you have to believe in Ghosts.

Unfortunately for Holden, his best friend refuses to accept that. Holden can read the history of an object just by touching it. It’s been a struggle most of his life and every time he’s tried to use it for a beneficial purpose it’s gone horribly wrong. But when his best friend convinces Holden to step in for a paranormal investigation, it turns out hauntings are as real as psychics. Sticking with the investigation risks landing him in the hospital again. Leaving means abandoning the ghosts who are repeating the night of their deaths over and over forever. Can he really walk away when he might be the only one who can help?

My Summary:

Holden, a man with psychometric abilities is forced to join a research team that searches for paranormal activities after one of their members bails on them. Being a friend to the group’s leader, he agrees to go with them. Reaching the house that people called haunted, he is forced to help them search for a ghost but things get worse when he tries discovering the truth of the house. He is almost close to discovering the truth but the only problem is his powers are not limited anymore.

My Review:

This book is one of the greatest horror stories that I have read. I am a real horror fan and yes, this story gave me goosebumps. It’s worth trying.

The first 2 chapters are a bit confusing, I felt like the details were missing but the truth was the details were provided in the later chapter. There little description of characters shape, size and features but it’s a 67 pages short story so I forgive that part.

The story picks up really nice. It starts getting interesting but somewhere I felt like the grip was losing. The bedroom scenario of Holden with Stephen (the ghost) was hard to understand but still, I felt the story was very interesting. I gave it 5 stars because I think it is a great and really nice story.

It made me jump out of my bed while reading it when someone knocked on my door. You scared me and for a girl who watches horror movies and reads horror stories that’s a great thing.

I am looking forward to more if Ghostline Series. I really loved it. It’s worth an hour or two of book club discussion.

This book made my NetGalley experience extreme fun. Thank you once again for such a great novel.Looking forward to more of your publishing.

I highly recommend this novel to all my readers. It’s a little goofy in the start but it gives you great scary and chilly images in your imaginative head. Please read it.

This blog is a special tribute to my friend: Thank you for encouraging me to join NetGalley

  1. I enjoy reading these ‘short books’ now and again. I was pleased to hear that it scared you, which so many ‘horror’ books fall short of for me. Great review, Suzan, I liked your style and clear format. 🙂
    Best wishes, Pete.

    1. That’s great, you should try this story. It’s out already. I haven’t been scared much and you know that but this story gave me a kick. It’s unique. Thank you. I like to arrange stuff that’s how I accidentally end up making good formats otherwise I can be the messiest person on earth. 🙂✌
