TECHNOLOGY VS BOOKS ||MESSY BOOKWORMS’ PROBLEM.

Life has changed so much in the past few years with some awesome technology at hand. Everything has changed with technology and the best part is a change in reading style. Now you can read on Amazon Kindle or the other sites that I have unfortunately never heard of. Sorry!! Its good to see that this technology has interested many readers and got them hanged in reading some awesome books but my personal opinion is that it has kind of made people kookoo in the head too.

“Oh, Suzan why are you saying that?” I have the experience, people. Let me tell you my weird experience.

So let’s start, shall we?

A small kindle tablet Vs a printed bookshelf.

Hello and welcome to my blog: Magical BookLush.

Before I start the weird experience I had, let’s talk about some important points that I, like a nutcase I am, believe.

Living in books is an experience we all love to have and that’s why we read. I just don’t understand how people enjoy having the same experience with a really big fat tablet in the hand.

Hey, see this is my opinion, okay? Don’t get on my head.

I am the kind of girl who loves reading. Although my abilities to read a hundred pages in one sitting is fading but still i love reading novels.

I have always loved reading in a book format, not an audio format, not an ebook format but just a plain paper with beautiful words on it that can take me to SUZIE’S DREAMLAND.

A thousand lives with different emotions.

Just imagine.

Just imagine, you are sitting in the balcony with a cup of coffee and a good book, for example, Jane Eyre. The smell of the coffee and book mix and make up a smell that feels like heaven on earth, you are reading the book and your friend comes over, she asks you to lend her a book and you take her to a huge bookshelf with dozens of books.

Imagine this too:

Just imagine, you are sitting in the balcony with a cup of coffee and a tablet. No smell mixing, no heavenly feeling, your friend comes and starts talking to you but after sometime, she feels like you are paying no attention to her and are very busy in your kindle tablet and leaves.

What does that teach you, children??

  • No inspiration to others. (you don’t inspire your friends to read because their pride and ego stops them from asking you about what you are doing in that tablet)
  • Your friends can feel ignored and leave.
  • Your boyfriend/girlfriend can suspect that you are having an affair (obviously he doesn’t know that you love the main character but it could get serious without clarification)
  • Your eyes will click a CTRL + CYLINDRICAL GLASSES button. (That could lead to blindness)
  • You might go cranky and crazy staying in your phone all-day (don’t expect your parents to understand the reason when they are taking your phone away)

The main reason is your mom won’t stop bothering you about how you are always in your phone and care about nothing else and do no chores and mess up everything and if you accidentally forgot something, YOU WILL BE DOOMED FOR LIFE!!!

This is not an imagination, people. I go through it every day. πŸ™‡β€β™‚οΈπŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ™β€β™€οΈ All this is true. No researches, it has happened to me in the past. Well, most of it. Point number 3 doesn’t exist in my life.

Now after all that boring lecture, it’s truly weird experience time.

It was about 4 months ago when this happened. I have a friend named Mariah, well, she is a new just hi-hello friend, not much but the common thing between us is we love books and are huge POTTERHEADS. As you all know, the new book that came out, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child by J. K Rowling, John Tiffany and Thorne.

Well, we wanted to buy that book but I was thinking of Sherlock Holmes. I was always interested in Holmes but yeah we wanted to buy it too.

One day, we had to go to the AV club and I was sitting there with my best friend. She joined us and asked, “did you buy the book?” I said, “nope not yet.” See the thing here is sometimes Potterheads can get competitive and so did we. She had bought the harry potter wand and costume and other stuff. I am more of the books drooler. I don’t ship stuff much. So I was like, “I have Harry Potter notebook and stickers and novels”

The comeback she gave me was so puzzling even her friends didn’t understand.

“I have a Kindle Tablet, I can read all the types of novels I want to read and it has sensors and all the other…..blah blah blah…..blah blah blah…..” Although I didn’t understand any of those features but the way she said it, I felt like buying a tablet for myself. She could literally become a saleswoman and earn gazillions for a company.

Now my confusion was, what does this have to do with Harry Potter?? How does it affect the knowledge that I have, the stickers and notebooks?? Should I feel bad about not having a tablet??

I don’t mind you having a Kindle Tablet, read however you wish to read, I am happy that you are reading but don’t rub it off on the novel readers face because excuse me, Kindle did not exist when books were written and you don’t know the joy of taking a new book out of the shelf to read. So yeah, back off honey.

Read your way through but make sure you don’t hurt other people’s feelings and show pride because in a way you are missing something precious that they have.

This post does sound like a jealous girl that is angry at a show-off, right?

Well, stick with that because this is a life lesson. Well, that’s it for today.

  1. Yes! Another Potterhead! A girl after my own heart!πŸ€— I love this post Suzan, and while parts made me laugh, you make some valid points as well. As for me, I’m usually reading two books at the same time. One ebook and one print.😁

    1. POTTTERHEADS ON THE ROLL!!!!!!! awww I love you, Kim. Thank you. It has actually happened to me. Reading is not bad but too much technology can make you go kookoo in the head. I have started reading ebooks too but I don’t like them much. I hope you don’t spend too much time on the phone or any other technologies, it’s very bad for your health and migraines. Take care.πŸ™‚βœŒβ€πŸ˜˜

      1. Potterheads United! I hardly ever use my phone, but I admit between blogging and reading ebooks I do spend at least 2-3 hours a day on my iPad. Thankfully Apple installed this night screen function which makes it far easier on the eyes.

        1. We stand united forever. 2-3hours a day is ok but don’t exceed that. Nobody in WordPress would want our sweet Kimmy falling sick. Apple is doing a good job but that doesn’t stop the radiation that the phones or ipads spread. Make sure to take care of yourself because we all love youπŸ˜˜β€πŸ˜πŸ™‚βœŒ
